In 1994, a project was begun for the museum in Claude to produce a short documentary about the history of Armstrong County. The film, Portraits of the Past: A History of Armstrong County was created by Sharon Goodin and Mike Davis and continues to be shown at the Gem Theater. During production, eighteen residents were interviewed telling personal stories about unique pieces of local history, such as Palo Duro canyon, Mulberry Flats, the JA Ranch, Charles Goodnight, Fairview and Claude. Unfortunately, the original films were misplaced, so what remains is a “working set” of videos. Although not perfect, the information available is priceless for both the museum and the families. |
